FAQs

  1. What web hosting providers can I use? -- County Buck takes care of that for you.
  2. Can I use my own domain names? -- Absolutely.  We highly encourage you to generate your own domain name specifically for your county since you know what domain name will work best for your local county.   As per the contract, the domain name will be registered with County Buck and you will cover the $10.00 per year annual fees.  We'll throw in a few email forwards to get you rolling!  With City Buck, a domain name will already be in place and ready to go.
  3. How much will it cost to run a County Buck Web Site here? -- There are different contracts for different territories depending on where they are situated in the United States.  County Buck will provide websites and delivers service for these websites in exchange for a percentage of the profit made in a county or city.  This is a partnership!  The marketer must achieve certain goals throughout the contract.  In exchange we offer a business of shared profits for the life of our marketer and beyond, meaning the business can be willed to a family member.
  4. Who handles technical support from the end users in my county? We will handle all technical support issues.  The only aspect customers leasing from County Buck have to handle is marketing the website.  All customers delivered into our leased website and the profits produced from marketing efforts belong to our leasing partners working with County Buck.
  5. Who handles abuse? -- County Buck will handle all abuse from customers.   Our leasing partners merely have to market.  Note that spamming is an illegal activity and is expressly forbidden for both customers and leasing partners.  Please make a note that customers spamming other customers is also forbidden, so it is important to make customers aware of this policy.
  6. What about banner advertising? -- We handle the presentation, as many advertisers want to cover larger areas than your website.  Send them to us and we'll provide you a reward for your services.  If you have banners you want to host, contact us and we'll cut you a deal.
  7. Can I change the pricing structure of my County Buck sites? -- No.
  8. How will I get paid? -- County Buck/City Buck will run the accounts through PayPal.  We will send the percentage share of business brought into these PayPal accounts on a regular payment schedule.
  9. How often will I get paid? -- Each transaction goes into a PayPal account.  Payments will be delivered twice a month.
  10. What tax forms will I need? -- You will be an independent contractor.  We will provide IRS forms for that.  You are responsible for your own taxes.
  11. How does abuse work? -- Abuse of our system will usually result in a warning with a grace period which usually consists of (48 hours) to correct the problem.  Egregious or repeated abuse will result in account suspension or termination.  Abuse of your hosting provider is as per their policy.
  12. How long does it take to set up a County Buck site? -- At the moment, 7-10 business days.  We hope to get that down to  24-48 hours soon .  This is all after you are approved.  Remember, that these are customized sites and the setup does require some technical configuration on our end.
  13. Can I run County Buck sites for counties other than the one where I live? -- Yes, but you ALSO must run the site for your home county if it is available or one adjacent to it and may only expand into unclaimed adjacent counties to your own.  Part of our mission is to keep our sites as local as possible and this is how we go about doing this.
  14. How may I market my County Buck Site? -- Any legal way that doesn't violate your terms of service with us or the hosting provider.
